Hammerson Community Day 2013
20 May 2014
Hammerson Community Day is a great example of Positive Places and Culture and Values in action.
Hammerson has been running an annual Community Day since 2008. Working with local volunteering organisations and community groups Community Day is a great opportunity for our employees to get out of the office and do something different for the day. In 2013, 214 employees took part in activities ranging from support with business planning through to cleaning windows in a bird watching look out. Fifteen different community projects were supported across the UK. Our head office teams get the opportunity to work with our Centre based teams on projects that are really important to the local community, often supporting groups we have a long term relationship with.
Who do we work with?
Organisations we worked with last year include the London Wildlife Trust, The Tivoli Theatre Project in Aberdeen and the Square Mile Project in Leicester.
What do people think?
Feedback on Community Day is invariably positive, both from staff and from the organisations we work with. "The words 'thank you' do not seem adequate to express our gratitude for what Hammerson have done for the school and the students and I hope your volunteers enjoyed the day as much as I did. In the pouring rain your staff worked hard until the job was complete and after a cup of tea their only concern was "what are we doing next year?""
